World Health Organisation Strategy on Traditional Medicine

With the ever-increasing use of traditional medicines (TM) and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) the World Health Organisation has developed a strategy document to promote the rational use of TM/CAM. This is aimed at both providers of health care and consumers. Currently, consumers receive mass information on TM/CAM through various channels, but have little capacity to identify good and reliable information.

In order to increase the capacity of consumers to make an informed decision the WHO has issued draft guidelines to the general public who intend to benefit from the use of TM/CAM.
