Organic Black Seed Oil – Nigella Sativa

For over two thousand years the black seed (Nigella sativa), a plant from the Ranunculaceae (buttercup) family, has been traditionally used by various cultures throughout the world as a food and in health and general wellbeing.

The ancient Egyptians knew and used the black seed. Tutankhamun is even believed to have had a bottle of black seed oil in his tomb – and that would have been organic of course!

Black Cumin Nigella seeds and oil

Nigella sativa originates from Western Asia and is a herb that grows about 16-24 inches in height and has white flowers when in bloom. The plant is now cultivated from the Near East to India, though the most highly regarded black seed oil comes from Egypt.

Also known as the Blessed Seed, black seed is popular in the Middle and Far East. With a pleasant aroma and taste, it can be taken internally off the spoon, used as part of a salad dressing or used as a head or chest rub.

Organic standards ensure that the black cumin seeds in our Black Seed Oil are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides of other chemical sprays.

Soya Isoflavones for Women’s Health

Why are women being encouraged to eat more soya foods?

Far Eastern countries that regularly eat soya have noticeably lower levels of several modern diseases (incl. osteoporosis, arthrosclerosis, coronary heart diseases, urinary disorders, menopausal syptoms, etc.). More than a thousand scientific papers have already been published on soya and health.

What are soya isoflavones?

Scientist have identified several plant oestrogens, called isoflavones, in soya foods. Unless they have been fermented (like in miso), soya foods contain much higher levels of non-active isoflavones.

Plant oestrogens are gentle and can interact with our human oestrogen receptors, helping to modify the effects of insufficient or excess oestrogen in the body, bringing it more into balance.

Herbal remedies for enlarged Prostate

Saw Palmetto

Saw Palmetto is considered by herbalists to be the prime remedy for prostate problems. Sabal serrulata or Serenoa repens is a small palm with fan-shaped leaves. The fruits are dark red and used medicinally.

USES: Enlarged prostate, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH).

HOW IT WORKS: The condition of an enlarged prostate is commonly found in men over the age of 50. This enlargement is the result of the cells in the prostate becoming more sensitive to circulating hormonal levels in the body. Cells of the prostate enlarge, which in turn cause the whole gland to increase in size.

Saw Palmetto inhibits enzymes at the level of the prostate cells, reducing the action of hormones. This is a local effect, confined to the prostate gland.
