GM-free food

Most Irish non-organic meat, poultry and dairy produce comes from animals fed on GM feed, but is not labeled as such because of a loophole in EU law. This loophole is directly responsible for the continued growing and importation of GMOs for animal feed. As a result, 20 million tonnes of GM ingredients enter the EU food chain each year, without the public being informed; Irish consumers are inadvertently supporting the cultivation of GMOs for animal feed; and Irish farmers risk losing their fair share of the growing international market for safe GM-free food. 94% of EU consumers want the right to choose whether or not to eat GM food.

The fundamental right of EU citizens to information requires mandatory labelling of animal products based on GMOs now; to sign the Greenpeace petition > please click here
